Let Your Creativity Blossom This Summer And Bring Your Chakras into Balance

The earth is warming up, and the sunlight is lasting longer here in the northern hemisphere. The new growth that began in the spring continues to thrive and expand, providing a glorious summer for us!

The flowers are  blossoming in my garden, and the bees are happily buzzing around them. Have you been able to taste the sweetness of freshly-picked strawberries like I have? Delicious!

The warmth and expansion we experience in the season of summer plants a seed for the future. It’s a season to reset ourselves and fan the flame of warmth and strength to carry into the autumn and winter. It’s a time for great self-awareness, to rebalance and rectify the inevitable missteps that have occurred during the last months – bringing us one step closer to who we truly are as human beings.

It’s a time to get outside and reconnect with nature. Go swimming in a lake or dip your toes in a bubbling stream. Head up a mountain for a hike or make a campfire and gaze into the flames. It’s time to go outside at night and turn your eyes upward to look at the wide expanse of stars that illuminate the night’s sky.

For the next 8 weeks, I invite you to join me in creative activities that will help you to reset and rebalance in this season of summer. Each week, I’ll share ways to be creative while focusing on one chakra at a time. You’ll strengthen and balance that energy center through your creative activity. And you’ll have fun too!

First, let’s take a moment to remember what chakras are.

Chakras as Energy Centers

Chakras are energy centers within our bodies. We can’t see them, but we can picture them as swirling vortices of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy is our vital life force that keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.

The word chakra means wheel or disk in Sanskrit. There are 7 main chakras, or swirling wheels of energy, that align with the spine, starting at the base of the spine and moving up to the crown of the head. They contain bundles of nerves and major organs. They work to regulate the flow of energy in our body so that we can have a variety of experiences  – mental, creative, sexual, emotional, and more.

There are thousands of chakras in your body, but the 7 main ones are the information hubs. They gather information on certain aspects of your body, soul, spirit, health, and life.

Everything in your body (and also in life!) is composed of energy and information. Everything moves or vibrates with this energy.

Since everything in our bodies is moving, it’s important that the chakras stay open and fluid. If there are blockages, then health-giving energy can’t flow.

Keeping a chakra open and flowing takes some effort and attention. But, it’s not very difficult if you simply have awareness.

When energy flows to these chakras, it fills the area with the information each chakra needs to perform its unique work. For your body to work at its optimal level, energy and information must be able to travel through open channels easily and quickly.

Next week, we’ll get started with creative summer activities for the first chakra, the root chakra. Join me then!
