Durga Mantra

This recording starts with a passage from the Rig Veda, one of the scriptures of Hinduism. This text is one of the earliest evidence of reverence for Durga – a Hindu deity representing  aspects of the feminine nature of God. Here are the words from the Rig Veda, chapter 10.125:
“I am the Queen, the gatherer-up of treasures, most thoughtful,
First of those who merit worship.
Thus gods have established me in many places
with many homes to enter and abide in.
Through me alone all eat the food that feeds them,
Each person who sees, breathes, hears the word outspoken.
They know it not, yet I reside in the essence of the Universe.
Hear, one and all, the truth as I declare it.
I, verily, myself announce and utter the word
that gods and humans alike shall welcome.
I make the person I love exceedingly mighty, make them nourished,
Make them a sage, and one who knows Brahman.
I bend the bow for Shiva, that his arrow may strike
and slay the hater of devotion.
I rouse and order battle for the people,
I created Earth and Heaven and reside as their Inner Controller.
On the world’s summit I bring forth sky the Father:
My home is in the waters, in the ocean as Mother.
Thence I pervade all existing creatures, as their Inner Supreme Self,
And manifest them with my body.
I created all worlds at my will, without any higher being,
And permeate and dwell within them.
The eternal and infinite consciousness is I,
it is my greatness dwelling in everything.”

After the spoken words, the chanting will begin and I encourage you to chant along with me as you listen. Here are the words of the chant:
Om dum durgayai namaha

 O JERUSALEM MEDITATION AND CHANTS

Picture

This page features a meditation as well as a series of chants inspired by St. Hildegard of Bingen’s powerful song, O Jerusalem. These spiritual practices are designed to help you manifest your soul’s purpose.
In this image we see Rupertsberg, the initial convent which St. Hildegard founded in 1147. What is your soul yearning to create? Use these chants and meditation to ignite the creation of your own “Rupertsberg”.

 1. O Golden One Meditation

I invite you to get comfortable in your chair or on the floor and listen to the words of the translation of St. Hildegard of Bingen’s Song O Jerusalem accompanied by some beautiful music. Take a few deep and slow breaths and relax your body. Consider yourself to be the Golden One that these words are directed to. Focus on these beautiful words and notice what comes up for you.

2. O Jerusalem Chant:

Write what it is your soul wants to create (“your Rupertsberg”) on a card. Put it in a special place where you will see it often. Then chant this beautiful section of O Jerusalem.  As you sing along with the recording, envision your creation in the best possible way!

Here are the Latin words as well as the English translation:

O Jerusalem, aurea civitas (O Jerusalem, golden city)
Ornate Regis purpura. (adorned in the King’s purple)
O edificatio, summae bonitatis, (O edifice of supreme goodness)
Quae es lux numquam obscurata. (whose light never darkens)

3. Singing With Angels Chant:

As you envision moving forward in the creation of “your Rupertsberg”, are there any obstacles you sense? For examples: fears that come up, overwhelm, self doubt, hopelessness… Write them on another card. Then sing this chant and dance along with this recording as you ask for these obstacles to be removed.

Here are the words:
In you makes symphony the Holy Spirit
For you are singing with angel choirs.
And you are adorned in the Son of God,
For you live in Love.

Here are the words:
Jerusalem! See these walls of glowing, glowing stones.
And shooting, shooting stars; shooting stars!

O EUCHARI CHANT
Picture

“We have innate within us a tremendous, intense, powerful DEVOTION. You do not have to develop it. You only  have to rediscover it.” – David Hawkins

This chant uses the first phrase of St. Hildegard’s sweeping song O Euchari In Leta Via. It speaks to the deep
part of your soul that is at the very core of your being. Do you long to let go of attachments that are holding you back from your Divine Power? Do you want to access a Spiritual Power of enormous strength within yourself, a power which alone can accomplish the impossible? The words of the chant are:
“O Euchari in leta via ambulasti.” (“O Eucharius, you walked on a blessed path.”)

St. Hildegard wrote this song to praise and ask for the help of St. Eucharius (depicted in the image above).
St. Eucharius was the first bishop of Trier whom legend tells us used St. Peter’s staff to raise people from the dead.
Use this chant to help you let go of the deadening obstacles in your life so that you can truly walk on a blessed
path. As you chant, visualize yourself walking on your blessed path, the path that you are being called to walk. Notice any negative voices that come up to stop you on your path. Let the chanting silence these negative voices.

O SALVATRIX MEDITATION/CHANT

This page features a meditation as well as a chant inspired by St. Hildegard of Bingen’s famous song: O Virga Ac Diadema.
St. Hildegard was very close to the Holy Mother and many of her compositions were songs of praise to Mary. Indeed, in this song, she refers to her as Salvatrix (Saving Lady).

Here are the words spoken on this recording:
O Saving Lady, you did not spring from the dew, nor from the drops of rain, nor did an airy wind fly over you, but the divine radiance brought you forth on the noblest bough. O branch, God foresaw your blossoming on the first day of his creation. And he made you as a golden matrix for his Word. O how great in its strength is the side of man, from which God produced the form of woman. He made her the mirror of all his beauty and the embrace of his whole creation. So the instruments of heaven chime and the whole earth marvels. O Mary all-praised, for God has greatly loved you. Hail, Saving Lady.

Soak in these words. as you listen to this recording. Then chant along: Unde, O Salvatrix. If you are having a particular challenge in your life, I invite you to hold this challenge in mind as you chant along, asking for Mary’s help with the resolution of the challenge you are facing. Feel her compassion and sweet, caring love envelope you. When the chanting comes to an end, sit in silence for a while and listen for her guidance.
