Feel Energized This Spring: 5 Simple Ways to Connect with Nature

The spring flowers are blooming here in Colorado, and the birds are chirping. People are heading outside to enjoy the beauty of the season, breathing in fresh air and feeling the warm sun on their faces.

Everything is springing back to life after winter.

How about you? Are you waking up, re-energized after the long winter? Or are you feeling stagnate and stuck coming out of the cold, dark time of year?

Getting outside at this time of year is a wonderful way to get in sync with nature and to feel invigorated after the winter. Nature is a great healer and inspiration.

Why not take some time today and go outside in nature? Leave your headphones at home and listen to the sounds around you.

Breathe deeply. In and out – breathe. Enjoy the nourishment of the fresh air. Let the sounds of nature relax your body. If there is the noise of human activity, allow it to fade into the background.

Use your senses to notice the details of nature around you. See the sparkling dew on the grass or how the rays of the sun dance among the tree branches. Listen to the songs of the birds in the distance and smell the earth as it warms up.

Nature can bring us a sense of peace and awe, energizing our body and inspiring our creativity. While you are outside, try these 5 simple ways to attune to nature and have some fun!

  1. Go for a walk at sunrise or sunset and watch the beauty unfold.

2. Take your shoes off and walk barefoot through the grass.

  1. Sit next to a stream. Listen and watch the bubbling water flow. Dip your toes in if you’d like!

  1. Go outside at night away from the streetlights and gaze at the stars. Maybe you’ll see a planet or two also!

  1. Walk through a wooded area and notice the trees. Feel the bark, look at the leaves and buds. Discover the new spring growth after the long winter.

Spending time in nature relaxes and invigorates the mind and body. You’ll be re-energized and ready to return to your daily life with newfound inspiration and joy.
